Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
