From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could help the group reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.
