Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.

A high-ranking representative said the incident left him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
